Challenge
Create a calm and supportive rest space for LDR nurses inside a busy clinical environment without compromising access, maintenance needs or daily hospital functionality.
Design and fit-out of the LDR nurses rest room at Tehran Pars Hospital, focused on calm recovery, short-stay sleep, shared seating and staff support.

The brief, context, and coordinated thinking behind the work.
ESPO designed and delivered the nurses rest room serving the LDR department at Tehran Pars Hospital as part of the wider maternity and women’s-care interior program completed in 2018. The space was created as a calm and supportive environment where nursing staff can pause between demanding shifts, recover energy and use the room for daily staff needs. It forms part of the hospital’s larger 7,000 m² project scope.
Nurses working in an LDR environment operate under constant pressure, continuous attendance and rapid-response conditions. The design therefore creates a short but meaningful separation from the active clinical setting while maintaining practical proximity to the department. Furniture planning and zoning help staff rest more effectively during limited breaks.
The room combines collective seating, a small dining or refreshment area, short-stay sleeping zones and practical storage. Separate beds, semi-transparent partitions, comfortable seating and built-in elements allow the space to support different uses throughout day and night shifts.
Wood textures, bright surfaces, controlled blue accents and soft lighting give the room a more humane and restorative character than the surrounding treatment areas. At the same time, the selected finishes remain aligned with hospital requirements for cleaning, maintenance and long-term everyday use.
In this project, the nurses rest room was treated as an essential part of the healthcare support infrastructure rather than a secondary back-of-house space. The result is a practical, orderly and calming room that supports rest, brief recovery and everyday staff use within the Tehran Pars Hospital LDR department.
